In November 2008 the Gee's Bend Quilt Mural Trail was established in Alabama.
Each quilt square (or mural) on the trail depicts of the quilts used on the 10 commemorative stamps issued by the U.S. Postal Service in 2006 to honor the world renowned quilting traditions of Wilcox County Alabama's Gee's Bend community.
Visitors can find 10 free-standing quilt murals, painted by noted artist Tyree MCCloud, on this 17-mile trail along the Alabama River in Alabama's Black Belt Region. Each 8-foot square plywood quilt mural is placed near the original homes of the women who made the quilts commemorated by the stamps.
